Kolkata:In a massive ticket checking drive South Eastern Railway (SER) has collected Rs 26.48 crores from 5.42 lakh passengers travelling without or with improper tickers.
According to SER sources here on Tuesday,the Railway's earnings from this ticket checking drive between April and December 2017 in its entire network,was 18.6 per cent higher than the amount collected during the corresponding period of 2016. In addition 5.55 lakh unbooked luggages were also detected during April to December of the current financial year and from which an amount of Rs 3.51 crores was collected as fine, the sources said adding that the amount was 10.7 per cent more that what was collected during the corresponding period of last financial year (2016-17).
