Kolkata: Jio Group,a part of over 800 billion dollars Reliance Industries,will set up a Chair in honour of world renowned Scientist Professor Satyendra Nath Bose in a prestigious University in West Bengal soon. This was announced by Reliance Industries Chairman Mukesh Ambani while addressing a packed gathering of India's top industrialists at the inaugural session of the Bengal Global Business Summit(BGBS) here on Tuesday.
Referring to the rich contribution of Professor Bose as a world class Physicist in early 20th century in the areas of science and technology,Ambani said 'Bengal had always been a cradle of super intelligent people like Professor Bose and many others. 'As part of the 125 birth anniversary of Professor Bose and in recognition of the famous Bose-Einstein collaboration which was a corner stone of quantum physics,I am proud to announce on behalf Jio our decision to set up a Chair in the name of Professor Satyendra Nath Bose in a prestigious university in Bengal', Ambani said amid huge applauds from the gathering including Chief minister Mamata Banerjee, Arsenol- Miilal Chairman Lakhsmi Mittal and JSW Group CEO Sajjan Jindal among many others from both India and abroad.
Also announcing his elaborate plan to hugely participate in the growth process of Bengal to help make it known not only as West Bengal but 'Best Bengal', Ambani said since he last attended the second edition of BGBS in 2016,Reliance had invested a total amount of over Rs 15,000 crores in West Bengal,at least three times over what he had promised to Invest(Rs 4500 crores).Showering huge praise on Chief minister for what he said a complete transformation of the state not only in terms of Industrial growth,but also in terms of development of infrastructure and its industry-friendly image, the Reliance Industries Chief said all this had encouraged him to make further investment of over Rs 5,000 crores in Bengal over the next three years in his non Jio business ventures like those in Retail and Petroleum industries.
His this announcement was also greeted with huge clapping from the gathering,including state Finance minister Amit Mitra and others.During his nearly 15 minute long address Ambani also gave a detailed account on how he planned to spread the network of Jio 4G Broadband mobile telephony service across the country and in West Bengal in particular making it one of the front runners in the development of cost effective telecommunication net work in India and be at par with the best in the world.Now it remains to be seen how his plans would be implemented and how long it might take vis a vis the rest of India.Earlier,in her welcome address Chief minister Mamata Banerjee referred to the all round development of the state and urged the country's top industrialists and those from abroad to come and invest in Bengal without any fear of obstruction or undue delay before implementation. Over 1000 industrialists and businessmen from across India and from over 30 countries are attending the two day Summit which began at the most modern Convention Centre at New Town-Rajarhat area on Tuesday for the 4th year in a row.
