Chandigarh: Greatly concerned over the recent spate of crime against women in the state, the Haryana Government has decided to centralize its Women Helpline number-1091 to provide 24 hours immediate response to any women in need all across the state. At present, the helpline number 1091 is running at district level. In the new system, the calls for help would be received at a single centre to initiate immediate process for its redressal.
This was disclosed during the media interaction by the Chief Secretary, D.S. Dhesi, and Additional Chief Secretary, Home, S.S. Prasad here on Monday.
The Chief Secretary said that culprits would be identified at the earliest and stern action as per law would be taken against guilty.
Prasad said that complaints from all over the state would be attended on this centralized system. The centralized system would provide integrated support and assistance to women affected by violence or any kind of need under one roof. The Director General of Police B.S. Sandhu is constantly monitoring the entire issue with the Superintendent of Police in the districts, he added.
